Commemorate Remembrance Day on the ground where the First World War was fought, on this 5-day tour of the Western Front. This once-in-a-lifetime journey is escorted by Pete Smith, expert battlefield guide and co-host of the popular BattleWalks podcast. Mat McLachlan Battlefield Tours UK provides central battlefield accommodation, deluxe transportation and exclusive extra visits not found on any other battlefield tour.

The tour begins and ends in Lille, and visits all the key British sites on the Western Front as well as those that are lesser-known. Learn from Commonwealth War Graves site how they caringly tend to hundreds of thousands of Commonwealth graves, explore wartime sites including the Arras Memorial to the Missing, Faubourg d’Amiens Cemetery, the Arras Flying Services Memorial and the Memorial du Mer des Fusilles WW2 – where hundreds of members of the Resistance were executed during the Second World War.

Follow the tragic story of the First Day of the Somme, the bloodiest day in the history of the British Army visiting sites on both the Left and Right of the Line, and spend a very special Remembrance Day in Ypres, with a walking tour from the Cloth Hall to the Ramparts Cemetery before visiting the Menin Gate and joining the town service at 11am commemorating the moment the guns fell silent and the war came to an end.

The final day is spent in the Ypres Salient, including visiting Essex Farm Cemetery where John McCrae composed In Flanders Fields.
